Heal and Enhance Your Life with Your True Birthstone

In ancient India, as well as other cultures, gems were valued for their abilities to heal and to enhance a person’s life. They were said to possess energies that could help a person in all areas of life, physically, emotionally and spiritually. A person wore a gem that was transmitting cosmic energies of the planet that ruled the Sun’s position when they were born as a birthstone. Even better was to wear a stone (still the optimal means of choosing gems) to strengthen the energies weakest in their lives. For this a qualified Vedic astrologer was consulted.

The origin of modern western "birthstones" can be traced to the days of Moses when he gave instructions about the “Breastplate of Judgement. In the Bible, the breastplate is described as being set with 12 gemstones, each with an engraving of the name of one of the 12 tribes of Israel..
In the Book of Revelations, gems in the breastplate were described as being the foundation stones of the temple of the “New Jerusalem”. The order that the 12 gems were given was used as the order for birthstones for the months also related to astrology.

These stones were used as birthstones until August 12, 1912 when the American National Retail Jewelers Association (ANRJA) changed the list to stones, which would be more advantageous commercially for the jewelry industry. Then, in 1938, the American Gem Society (AGS) adopted the new list, adding one additional stone, citrine quartz, to the list. In 1952 the list was once more changed and gained the approval of ANRJA, AGS, NJA (National Jewelers Association) and ASIA ( American Stone Importers Association). This then established the official list of birthstones that is still used today.

The Jewelery Industry Council of America established this as the official list of birthstones. It is not hard to see that this list was arbitrarily created and has no astrological meaning.
Such a system has no relevance for the wearer. When a person wears a stone truly advantageous for them it can help to enhance their health, relationships, career, wealth and so many areas of life.

The Ancient Vedic Birthstone System was as follows according to birthdate:

January 14 through February 12: blue sapphire

February 13 through March 13: same as the previous as Saturn stilled ruled

March 14 through April 13: yellow sapphire

April 14 through May 13: red coral

May 14 through June 13: diamond or white sapphire

June 14 through July 15: emerald

July 16 through August 15: pearl

August16 through September 15: ruby

Sept. 16 through Oct. 16: emerald

Oct. 17 through Nov. 15: diamond or white sapphire

Nov. 16 through Dec. 14: red coral

Dec. 15 through Jan. 13: yellow sapphire

For persons born during these times the birthstones were said to bring prosperity. Many other gems were used to enhance overall life by first diagnosing the needed gems through the Vedic horoscope.
